Supporting those less well off this winter with Genesis ~ Tim Harris

Genesis have launched 2 appeals to help those less off this winter - please see below for details and how we at St. Luke’s can help

Toy Vouchers

Many parents and guardians relying on emergency food parcels will also struggle to afford a Christmas present for their children. Parents and guardians coming into Foodbank in the run up to Christmas, will be offered a voucher enabling them to choose the right Christmas present for their children.

It is estimated that least 500 vouchers will be needed. The scheme, as in previous years, is supported by the toy shop ‘The Entertainer’. The hope is to be able to provide a £20 toy voucher for each child, enabling families to ensure that they can give each of their children a gift.

St. Luke’s has supported this scheme in previous years, and if you would like to do so again, please make your donation (each £20 donated will provide a gift for a child who might otherwise not receive one) by bank transfer to the St. Luke’s PCC bank account with the reference ‘Toy Vouchers’.  The bank details are: Sort Code 56-00-34; Account number 02504154.

Supporting Vulnerable People with Winter Clothes

The colder months are now with us and are a difficult time for the homeless. Genesis wants to be well stocked with winter clothes to keep their clients warm this winter. Can you support them with quality donations (clothes in good condition - new or used) of the following items?

  • Jumpers

  • Trousers/Jeans (sizes 30-36)

  • Footwear

  • Waterproofs

  • Winter coats

  • Body warmers

  • Blankets

  • Sleeping bags

  • Winter gloves

  • Winter socks

  • Winter hats

Please bring suitable items to St. Luke’s by Sunday November 29th if you would like us to deliver them to Genesis, but if you prefer, you can arrange to drop them off yourself by calling 01225 439384 to arrange a drop-off time at the Gateway Centre - mornings work best for them.
