People's Emergency Briefing Film ~ Jan Rich

Global warming, climate change, the climate emergency - haven't we heard enough, and who do you listen to anyway when so often reports have political overtones; and what are we supposed to do with the information?

Here is a film - just 50 minutes long - which brings together leading UK specialists in the areas of climate science, health, food security, economics, national security and nature. They present clearly and succinctly the latest evidence on climate change and how it already affects, and will increasingly affect, all areas of our lives across the world and also specifically in the UK.

Originally presented to politicians and national leaders in Westminster last year, its stated aim is to raise public awareness of the issues and the need for urgent and joined-up action. There is hope for the future and there are things we can do to slow climate change and its impact, but they have to be bold, urgent and acting together. It is an emergency!

The presentation comprises clear and concise factual reports interspersed with reactions from concerned but non-expert figures from the entertainment world asking the kinds of questions we might ask. The film is designed to be watched in communities like ours - this screening is with the Bear Flat Residents' Association - and in community, so that we come to understand, consider and respond together.

Come to St Luke's from 6.30 for 7.00pm on Thursday 22 October and hear the up to date facts from experts, in one place, together with questions and reactions and what can be done to make a difference. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to process and discuss what we have heard. And please invite your friends and neighbours - this is for everyone and affects us all!
