Climate Sunday 2021

Join us on Sunday 5 September at 10am for our Climate Sunday service - either in church, or on line.

How do we respond to the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency? What does this even mean? We’ll be exploring these questions in this service.

Our local Council has declared both a climate emergency and an ecological emergency:

“An Ecological Emergency has been declared by the council in response to the ongoing threat to wildlife and ecosystems. The declaration recognises the essential role nature plays in society and the economy and provides a statement of intent to protect wildlife and habitats, enabling residents to benefit from a green, nature rich environment.”
– Bath and North East Somerset Council

Recent United Nations reports from the IPCC (Climate change: Five things we have learned from the IPCC report, BBC) and the IPBES (Nature crisis: Humans 'threaten 1m species with extinction', BBC) paint a very challenging picture, which the world’s governments will respond to at COP26 (for climate change) in Glasgow in November and CBD15 (for biodiversity) in October and April.
